CREATE GREAT MEMORIES AND STAY SAFE ON A MINI ADVENTURE

It’s really important for lots of reasons to still get out and about during the epidemic, which let’s face it, has dominated our lives this year. A Mini Adventure is a fantastic way for you and your family or a small group of friends to take in some fresh air and have a shedload of fun whilst sticking to the socially distancing rules and restrictions that are in place.

We want you to have the very best Mini Adventure experience! So, before you set off on your next mission, we’ve put together some advice for safe and responsible exploring.

STAY SAFE – BE PREPARED – FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES

STAY SAFE

  • Follow social distancing rules and be aware. Be prepared to skip a clue and use the answers provided if it’s not possible to solve it whilst maintaining social distancing. Or go back to the clue when it might be possible to have a better look at it.

  • Avoid touching any hard surfaces such as plaques, signs or information boards that clues may be set on, or gates, walls or benches. Use a stick to point at things rather than fingers and carry hand sanitiser in case you do touch anything.

  • Don’t stay in busy areas for too long – if you need to, take a photo of the clue and move away where it is not so crowded to then solve it.

  • Keep others safe – remember that there are many vulnerable people who still need or wish to self-isolate or maintain a greater social distance than guidelines suggest. While walking, please respect others and keep a safe distance.

BE PREPARED

  • Take supplies with you – we want you to support local businesses in the town you’ve chosen to explore, but it may not be possible to do this. We suggest that you take anything vital you might need with you just in case. This includes snacks and drinks, hand sanitiser and face masks for everyone.

  • Plan ahead – if you’re hoping to take a detour from your Mini Adventure, for instance into a museum or other attraction along the way, please check to ensure that these are open and that you don’t need to book ahead.

  • Check available facilities – most public toilets and car parks are open. But we still recommend checking before you travel that your chosen location has everything you need.

  • Manage your children’s expectations – be prepared to skip clues if they are not accessible or not safe for them to be solved. Please take into account that some areas may be temporarily closed and parts of the adventure may be too busy to observe social distancing rules. But this shouldn’t detract from the enjoyment as answers are provided and as suggested previously there are ways around this.

  • Be flexible – all good adventurers need to be adaptable from time to time.

FOLLOW THE GUIDELINES - PLANNING YOUR DAY

  • When planning your Mini Adventure, please make sure you are following the latest guidelines on how many other people you can socially gather with outdoors.

  • Mini Adventures are ideal for the permitted number of members of the same household or extended household to do together, as you’ll be gathering around your Adventure map and searching together to solve the clues.

  • When you meet up with people outside your household group or extended household, remember that you still need to maintain a social distance of 2m with facemasks (currently) while completing your Mini Adventure.

  • Follow all social distancing advice and regulations, as well as advice or regulations on wearing a face covering in any situations where social distancing is not possible.

CHOOSING YOUR MINI ADVENTURE

  • When choosing your Mini Adventure, ensure you can adhere to any lockdown rules, travel restriction guidelines and use of public transport.

  • Please consider the local communities you will be visiting and avoid locations that are likely to be crowded when choosing which location to explore.
